Cmdr. Sanok, Day 2, 0231) The instant Sanok rematerialized on the transporter platform back on the Rosenante, he ran off and made his way to the bridge. The crew knew he had been taken, so some of them made comments to him about being glad he was back, or that it was good to see him back safe and sound. Sanok understood the need to express those sentiments, and under other circumstances he would have acknowledged them, but there was no time for that now. The turbolift doors opened and Sanok hurried out, moving quickly to the captain. "Sir, we must cancel General Order 24. Lieutenant Kevras is still on the station, working to keep the portal open so we can go through it. He is also going to destroy the portal technology so the Hikani cannot use it again. We must return now to Federation space while the portal is still open." Sanok knew Ben would understand what this meant, but like it or not, it was something that had to be done. Seeing Ben's face as his friend contemplated what was said, Sanok tried to console him with the only words he knew that fit best in this situation. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one." (reply Soma) (posted by Bob B.) ----- (Alien Station, ACEO Lieutenant Tho'var Kevras - 0236) It was not just a matter of minutes before the portal would reach an almost perfectly stable state...and trigger the change in entropy that would eventually cause the portal to collapse. There was no more need for him to stay at the console. What he needed now was to resume his work on the destruction of the console. Perhaps Tho'var could help the Hikani use the station. But he needed to destroy the control room first to make sure he would never be forced to reopen a stable portal. He wasn't sure however how much freedom the Hikani would give him. After having destroy the portal, it was very likely they would not accept his help openly. They would rather force him to do what they wanted. There was very little chance he could gain the trust of those Hikani. However, he doubted any other Hikani would know who he was. If he was to hide and successfully put his hand on a shuttle, he could travel this sector of the galaxy and eventually find new friends. Perhaps, with time, he could enter in conact with the Hikani and work to diffuse their hatred towards telepaths. This option had more potential. Tho'var examined the EPS conduits. He still had no way to know what was the power and volatility of the plasma going through those conduits. If he only destroyed the console though, all the materials would still be there to create a wormhole. They would only need to create another interface. So he needed to destroy the series of detector and the portal own ODN system to make sure to destroy the computation and automatic programming. He would first have to install the bomb on the plasma conduits linked to the console, then follow the ODN circuit to find out where was the computer that operated the computation. So, he resumed his work on the first task. The bomb needed to be close enough to the console to make sure it was destroy, but also close enough to the hull to make sure all the sensors would also be destroyed by the explosion. It was probably preferable to use two bombs. The second could be triggered by the first. Considering it was easier to destroy the console than to penetrate several layer of plating and hull to destroy sensors array located on that hull, it meant the first and triggered bomb needed to be the closest possible to the hull. A small bomb would need to be placed close to the console. Tho'var returned into the room. As he hoped, he found two Hikani weapons on the ground. They could be used to device a bomb. He also examined what he could salvage from the console that had already been destroyed (he could take the risk just yet to touch the portal console, in case it closed the portal too soon). As he had already used most of the explosion component when he attempted to block the entrance, there wasn't much to be found. At least he found an electrical device that could serve as a computer device. That would allow him to insert some input, and therefore have an intelligent bomb, rather than a crude one. The problem was with the hull layer. The plasma circulating into the conduits would not be enough to melt three layers of plating. He needed a real explosion....not just heat. ODN explosion wouldn't be enough either. The yield was not even close to a fusion reaction. He needed to find a power source. But if he left the place, it was possible the Hikani would manage to get in, and he could never be able to return. He needed a plan B, in case it failed. At least, if he could destroy the console, that would buy some times. So Tho'var started to disassemble one of the Hikani weapon. Using its power unit, the beam emitter and shield, the small dilithium crystal cell, and the energy focalizer, as well as a few parts from the consoles he had salvaged, he managed to device a small bomb and install it at the jonction of the plasma conduits and the portal console. Then, using a piece of duranium, or whatever material they had used for the wall, he created a kind of bucket. Moving to a very small EPS conduit, he perforated it and collected the leaking plasma. Despite using gloves and every other types of protection he had found, the improvised bucket temperature quickly rose over a thousand degrees. Tho'var just managed to place the bucket over the bomb before his burning hands made him drop it. The pain was unbearable, but he had to continue. Now, he had approximately 30 minutes before the bucket ruptured and the hot plasma came in contact with the bomb, causing it to explode. That done, he followed the plasma conduits, hoping to find a big enough power source to create a much bigger explosion. The Bridge was a hive of activity, but he ignored such distractions. C'Nell had to fulfill Signos's instructions, "Captain, I have this; Signos's detonator; Its wired to the shuttles; if you use this they will blow; I cannot estimate the damage to the station-although the destruct is only wired to our vessel it should cause a chain reaction in the other nearby shuttles" C'Nell stated, as he entered and walked over to the CO's chair (Reply Soma or Any on bridge iyw) It was on the bridge that C'Nell truely realised the threat they faced. He saw now why the dreaded "Section" existed, it was for times like this. If the Captain was incapable perhaps effected himself by the Hikani. He would fulfill this mission. One way or another. Maybe that would end his starfleet career; if so he wasnt meant to be a starfleet officer. He wondered also if this mentaltiy that had been drilled into him from the youngest of ages would ever change.... the section stayed with you forever (Reply None) (Posted by Nathan) ----- (Rosenante Bridge 2O/COPS Lt Tom Jackson Day 2 0242) Sanok was home on the Rose and speaking with the Captain. Shock was one thing he didn’t need to experience. His Tricorder was scanning his patient. Korvin used a a misty spry of cool water to ease the aching. Infection was the next major worry. He resisted the temptation to pull away uniform parts in the area of the burns. The man’s body had already begun to grow healing skin! Korvin moved on to the next case, (Reply: None) (Posted by: Bill W.) ----- (Alien Station, ACEO Lieutenant Tho'var Kevras - 0249) Moving along the eps conduit within the station plating layers was difficult, but Tho'var managed to follow the conduits to its source. Luckily, it wasn't the main energy source, which would certainly have been well defended, but a secondary energy source. It was small, and looked nothing like any reactor. There was no injector of any kind. As if, it wasn't providing energy through conventional reaction. He studied the information gathered on the console. It took him so time to understand, but when he did, a light turned on. It was a microfracture. They were powering the station thanks to a tiny micro fracture in subspace. Voyager voyage had revealed the Hirogen possessed such technology. It could power a station almost indefinitely. Now he started to understand why the station and the portal had remained operational for so long. They weren't at risk of depleting their fuel....they did not need any. There was a problem with that however. If he destroyed the power source, the micro-fracture could increase, destroying the whole station and perhaps more. He couldn't destroy it. With such power system, they did not need any supplementary power source, so there was no use to search for smaller power source. He would have to find another way. Weapons.....certainly the station had something similar to torpedoes. If he could find one, he could remove the explosive (the torpedo itself being too heavy) and bring it to where he wanted. That would take more time than he had wanted. Clearly, it would take more than 30 minutes, so the portal console would be destroyed before he had time to come back. But he could still find other way to make sure the station would not be able to create another portal. He didn't had to come back. to the console room. And while he walked behind plating rather than in the corridor, the risk of encountering any Hikani was considerably weaker. If the station was designed the same way any starfleet ship was, the torpedoes storage room and torpedo launcher were always in the lowest deck. The farthest they were from any critical system and crew quarter, the less likely they would be from causing damage if they exploded. Moreover, it was a necessity that torpedo launchers be installed to have the best angle....and at the lowest point of a ship or station, if a spheric cylinder and not a square, which the station was, it was a calculated guess. So Tho'var headed down. Her vision blurred and Jessica was finding harder to concentrate, and speak. Lily was by her side, how could she by her side, was she hallucinating or was this a side effect of the drugs. She coughed again more bright red bubbly blood escaped her. Her breathing had slowed, her pulse had dropped. They could feel the weakness, strength being sapped from them as more blood in lost with her. 'Jessica...' Lily spoke softly "Yes Lily," Jessica no longer could recall the orders to keep her alternate persona secret. Lily took her hand and in Jessica's eyes closed her eyes... 'In case they can not save you...' They speak one voice layered over the other. "beyond all mortality..." They words broken though coughs expelling more red liquid from there lungs. "we are...*coughs*...swimming in breath...*coughs*.... of nature...*coughs*...the early air...*coughs*... of the dawn of light...*coughs*... a sight to silence the heavens." Jessica remembered the prayer it was on the same her mother had used to say to her, it was also the same Jessica spoke when her parents were murdered, before the memory of the event was stripped from her mind. In the distance she heard a voice, an alarm, then her world faded to blackness. The alarms on the bio bed blared has Jessica's pulse started to fail and fall dangerously low, she was barely able to breath. The blast had caused a good deal of internal bleeding and two of her ribs were broken where her armor failed perforating her lungs that were now taking on the blood from the rest of her damaged body. Shock started to set in as blood lose became more sever. "Code Blue, Code Omega, Signos." one of the medial tecks called in respond to the alarms. Nrpg: code blue - cardiac arrest; Code Omega - life threatening blood loss "Oh dear god" the teck spoke looking over the finishing scans. externally the armor blocked most of the shrapnel several pieces were imbedded and would have to be removed some caused a good deal of damage but mostly to muscle tissue and could be healed easily enough. But what could not be easily seen was the damage done internally. For what the scans showed it seemed the young woman that lied before was slammed into by some great force. If it wasn't for the armor the teck did not think she would of survived has long as she has. "Hold on." She spoke into Jessica's ear, "both of you." She had been there for some time listening to the conversation Jessica had with Lily. (reply Medical) (posted by Matthew Locke) ----- (Rosenante - Sickbay - ACMO Ensign (jg) Ailyn Andersen Day 2 - 0252) Andersen couldn't quite make the call herself, so she summoned Rixx to give the final call - and as she suspected he might, he gave her the freedom to choose herself. "Ailyn, do whatever you need to do - if you need help contact Lt Jackson" he added. It was encouraging that the chief medical officer placed enough belief in her - probably indeed more then she trusted herself. "Aye, sir. I believe we should do a thorough scan of the tissue, and the bones. I have a feeling the outer injuries are just a portion of the damage." she explained to Rixx that seemed to be occupied at the moment with other patients. Andersen knew he heard her, however. She called in two techs, telling them to place Jessica on the other bed, and start the scans there. Something was obviously intrathoracic as Jessica's breathing was irregular, sharp and with a limited volume. What Andersen feared the most were very small pieces of explosion debris caught inside Signos' body. They would be hard-pressed to remove those in a quick fashion - they would have to do it manually, piece by piece. First batch of scans came through. Neutrophilia leukocytosis in the blood had an obvious explaination, her body was fighting a heavy infection, her body temperature was obviously higher and kept on ascending. There were smaller swellings at about a dozen places - three of those very dangerous, as one was a part of the lungs, one very near the heart - and one inside the skull. However, it was a dangerous procedure removing the foreign bodies while the infection was spreading, it could be fatal. Andersen ordered the bed to be folded, so that while doing the scans, the bed also started low-level regeneration. This would make sure her internal organs do not experience a chronic failure due to the shrapnel lodged inside, or because of the infection, although could not directly help with the said infection. She additionally ordered the nurse to administer powerful intravenous antibiotics to help thin down her infection - so that it doesn't spread through her body and into her blood system. All this wouldn't really help Jessica completely, but would just keep her alive long enough so that Ailyn knew what she's dealing with and have enough time to remove the pieces. A second batch of scans were done, a smaller piece of her skull was fractured, two of her ribs were broken, and the kinetic impact almost severed her spine, killing her instantly - only a small fracture was left, but it was obvious to Andersen what could have happened there. The body absorbed the full power of the explosive device. All this energy had to go somewhere, and since Jessica faced the explosion by her front, it was her spine that absorbed most of the impact. How was she able to survive such an impact, Andersen had no idea. The two parts of the spine was compressing the spinal fluid, so this wasn't good news at all, but in on itself didn't mean a bad thing for Jessica. She would probably still be able to move her limbs normally, despite the injury, if Andersen carefully relaxed that area. "Keep on checking her, when her infection goes down in several minutes, let me know." she said to the young nurse, and got only an affirmative nod back. It was imperative that she knows everything that happens with the young woman, every change must be reported back to her. She turned about to the next bed, she was still fairly close and could hear if something happened to Jessica, in the meantime, she wanted to be as useful as possible. Three more got carried into the medbay, one lost eyesight beyond the repair, he would get a new one when they would eventually get home. It was impossible to re-create human parts at the limited facilities they had on the Rose, although Andersen made sure the nerve endings were left intact so that he can see later on. The next patient collided with the bulkhead, his jaw was fractured and both of his arms had many smaller fractures as he tried landing on his hands. Nothing that a nurse couldn't do, although Ailyn made sure the fractures are minimal and not life-threatening. The third patient got lucky - or so he thought, a heavy concussion, he walked in not even knowing where he was, rambling about some Atlantis station and some hotel and then just falling on his knees on the floor. His brain was obviously swelling, and Andersen was not looking forward to the procedure how to ease the swelling. Just as she was reading the scan results, getting ready for the procedure, at another side of the medbay one of the biobeds started ringing. Something was happening there, and by the audio signal, it wasn't good news. Andersen looked towards Rixx, who jumped right in to help the man with a concussion, as if he was reading her mind, freeing her up to go check her patient in need. She just nodded to him back, as a way to say thanks. When she got near, it was Jessica's bed. Her pulse was getting weaker, according to the monitors, she was loosing blood. The tech mumbled some codes, calling anyone over, not seeing that Andersen was behind him, and very clearly saw what was happening on the monitors. Jessica's heart was giving up, she was experiencing cardiac arrest. But it didn't make sense because there weren't any visible wounds. "Get me the air tube, now" she ordered the nurse. She needed her crew working flawlessly for this one. Placing the tube inside Jessica's mouths, she proceeded to manually compress the chest three inch deep two times per second, and then pushing the air through the tube in a rhythm fashion. She did so several times, as a faster kick-start to oxygen flow before she reconnected the tube to the artificial respiration unit. Jessica's small body seemed to be fighting this, but without the heart getting restarted, it would be a fight she would loose. Andersen was under a real stress now because this is extremely life threatening. Sighing deeply, she pulled the biobed overlay over her, putting in the instructions. Inside, no doubt, electro-conductive gel was spread on two points and the electrodes were placed. Ailyn looked to the tech that was over there the whole time, whispering something to Jessica's ear. She could not hear what - but it was commendable that the tech showed such a level of empathy. Perhaps she could be trained additionally to be a full nurse as well as a tech - or maybe a doctor one day as well - flew through Andersen mind for just a second, before she concentrated on Jessy again. A sound that mimicked the heart pulse on the medbay turned into a constant feedback, Jessica needed a kickstart to her heart, the broken fragile body on the biobed was hanging in seconds between being alive and warm again, experiencing the life... and an eternal peace. Andersen pressed the button and Jessica's body shook as the defibrilator shock hit her. After nothing happened, she pressed it again, and the body infront on the biobed shook violently up and then back down as once again shock hit her. Every time it would shock her, the automated defibrilator would autocalibrate. Still, her heart was on a strike, it just wouldn't start anymore. Ailyn pressed the button again, and nothing happened. Then she did it again, and nothing happened. Then she did it again, and again. Nothing seemed to be happening. Andersen, as if she was some kind of an mad doctor, torturing her victim, kept on pressing and pressing and shocking Jessica's body. Even after almost two dozen of times, she still couldn't start Jessica's heart. The nurses around her looked back at Andersen with a dose of sadness - and of understanding. Obviously, she wasn't in a very favorite position at the moment. It was a doctor's nightmare, proclaiming that their patient could not be saved. Proclaiming that they have given up, that they were defeated, that they failed, that the silent end won once again. Andersen closed her eyes. And for a second, a brief moment of pictures flew through her eyes, as if all time stopped, she could see a loud beautiful waterfall, she could almost smell the water, a bright rainbow above the bottom of the waterfall. She was there, almost able to fly as a bird, she was free... it was beautiful, but something kept calling her back, back to conscious state, she heard the voice of her father echoing through the long mountains, deep as a thunder, but light as the his face she once knew. "Never give up" he said, above the clouds she could see his face, and he smiled. And as he looked down, the whole reality flashed as if there's thunders in it, and Ailyn started turning around, she could fly no more, she could move no more, and as the sky turned grey, everything turned pale, and she opened her eyes. She was still there in medbay, the exact second she closed her eyes, she opened them back up. She looked at Jessica... she was doing something wrong. And then it struck her. She input a manual voltage, higher frequency then any of the shocks before were. As the shocker charged, she pressed the button, and once again Jessica's body shook, and for a few seconds more, she remained in that elevated position, but once she fell down, her heart started beating. It was working irregular, but it was working. A faint of smile found a trace on Ailyn's face. "Continue artificial respiration." she ordered the nurses, then she turned back towards Jessica, looking at her, she further ordered the nurses "Get ready for the procedure, we need to stop her internal bleeding, get the foreign bodies out of her and patch up her fractured bones." Ailyn ordered looking fresh as if she once again found a purpose in her life. (Reply: None) (Posted by: Lani) ----- (Rosenante, Bridge, FO/CSec Lt. Cmdr. Sanok, Day 2, 0300) The Rosenante was taking a beating. It seemed as if every torpedo launcher and phaser array on the station, had come to bear on them. The Hikani leader surely wanted them all dead. While aiding Captain Soma in directing fire, Sanok also found himself reflecting on everything that had happened. The Hikani were a race new to space travel, and their first contact with a race from another world, resulted in their home world being conquered, their people enslaved, and their natural resources plundered. Once they had regained their freedom, it was no wonder they were filled with such hatred and mistrust. Their conquerors had been telepathic, so it was the final piece of logic for the naive Hikani to end up hating them all. Of course, the actions taken by the Hikani with their newly-found technology, had shown how immature and selfish they were. No one had the right to blame other telepathic races for what one had done to them. The Hikani had much to learn. Sanok sincerely wanted that to happen for them. The Rosenante had made its way to the edge of the open portal. They could easily have slipped in and begun the journey back to Federation space, but the captain was waiting for as long as possible in order to bring Kevras home. There was no response to repeated hails, and the ship was taking damage. Sanok knew Ben knew what had to be done, but no one wanted to leave a comrade behind. Kevras had made the only choice available, so the Rosenante had to leave to make his sacrifice mean something. "Captain," said Sanok. "I know, Sanok," said Soma. "Helm, take us in." "Aye, Captain," said the pilot. The dejection at leaving someone behind was clear in his voice. After a few taps on his console, the Rosenante moved forward. Sanok accessed the shipwide comm. "All hands, we are entering the wormhole. Prepare for a rough ride." Just as the ship entered, Sanok detonated the runabouts they left behind. The forward view screen was filled with a swirling vortex of colors. The ship rocked like a piece of wood floating in the current of a river. Lights flickered. There were the shouts of orders and reports being given. The helm officer cursed. After another few moments, he gained control and the rough ride became smooth. There were many injured, but it started getting better in the later minutes. The Tesla medics helped immensely what could have been a total disaster. There were injured laying down on beds, on tables - even on the floor, if they weren't in immediate danger. In this chaos, a faint trace of order was placed with the nurses and doctors swarming the injured like bees, running around and helping each other as much as it was possible. Andersen found her place once again by the side of those in direst need. None of those that she helped had perished, and although many were in pain because a portion of the system did not work and only a single medicine replicator was working - and the ship's stash of medicines got completely used, still the medics were rationing by the nature of the injury, and those in great pain would find a large portion of their pain relieved. Ailyn could have, perhaps, done a better job... but at the end, what really mattered is that there were no casulties. Even despite everything she has done, she wasn't the hero here, it was those brave men and women lying on those beds, on those tables and on the floor that were the real heroes. A glimpse towards the right side of the medbay, and Ailyn caught up with waking Jessica. No doubt, she was still feeling broken, even specially after she removed all the small parts of the explosive device from her and fixed her bones up. The rest has been done by the regeneration chamber, and as far as Ailyn could see Jessica looking now - and remembering how she looked when she first saw her, the chamber did a really good job. Slowly, Andersen came towards Jessica, and placed her hand on top of young woman's. Peter Cohen and the rest of the engineering staff had been working around the clock scrutinizing every system and supporting subsystems throughout the Rosenante. The damage was significant in many parts of the ship, but it wasn't as bad as he'd seen her before. Many of the lower decks remained evacuated because of the lack of environmental controls and some of far port and aft areas were also cordoned off due to hull damage and direct or partial exposure to open space. Bulkheads and emergency force fields were holding up nicely far. He reflected on Lieutenant Kervas's performance on this mission. Tho'var was instrumental in every aspect...especially aboard the Alien Station. He noted in his log a citation for his work and dedication. Steve wanted to head to sickbay under the guise of CEO, only to check on the status of those under treatment...he didn't want to get in the way of the doctor or medical staff. Sickbay, he thought, would be very busy and he personally ensured that they had the systems and equipment they needed to do their jobs. He worried how many of the crew was lost or injured and the condition of the rest of the away team. Matrix paused briefly contemplate being back at major star base for repairs. The sight of a star base would be more than welcome. This wasn't the first, nor the last time the Rose and her crew would limp home from a mission. The best thing he could to is his job and ensure that the Rose was up to form and ready for anything the First Officer and Captain commanded. Standing up and adjusting his torn and dirty uniform Matrix walked back out to main engineering to tackle the next issue. If all goes well they all would be on their way home soon. (Reply none) (Posted by Steve) ----- (Alien Station, ACEO Lieutenant Tho'var Kevras - 0421) Tho'var was extremely exhausted. Moving through all those conduits up and down several decks, pursuied by the Hikani for almost two hours had taken its hold on Tho'var energy. The objective of getting to the torpedo launcher had been a failure. He realized there the specie that had build the station were using a completely different kind of technology for their bombs. They were not using quantum or photon, but rather another kind of explosive reaction. It had been impossible for him to extract the explosive. When he had realized that, he had thought the Hikani might have come with shuttles, and those shuttles might have been equipped with weapons. So his next move had been to go to the shuttlebay. The problem though was all the guards that had been guarding it. Certainly, have they increased every shuttle bay guards so that he could not escape. Thanks to improvised explosive, he was become a specialist at it, he managed to create a diversion so that more than half of the guard left the shuttlebay. But getting behind the other half had been still a massive problems. He finally found his way to a shuttle using a technic he learned from primitive times. He had seen that back at the time of steel, they used to dig tunnels to get under the walls of the enemy fort. Crowling into the mini gap between plating, he managed to moved under the shuttlebay floor, and create a hole to get access to a shuttle from beneath. Moving blind for a long distance had been extremely difficult. Despite a blurred vision, he had to calculate every move he made with extreme precision to make sure the hole he would dig would be below a shuttle....not in the open space. If it was the latter, that would be the end of his life. He succeeded. So from under, holding only thanks to a very narrow conduit, he managed to get access to the torpedoes. After a good thirty minutes, he was able to remove the explosive of one of the torpedoes. On his way back, thought, he almost died. Walking with a huge explosive on a very narrow conduit made him almost fall. His feet and body was floating in the air, only saved by the length of the explosive that was stuck between the two conduits, preventing his death. He managed to crawl back up, with his hearth beating as it had never beat. After a few minutes to recover, he resumed his task. (Posted by Nick) ----- (Alien Station, ACEO Lieutenant Tho'var Kevras - 0538) It had took him another hour moving the explosive all the way up to the closest possible to the Portal Control Room. How he managed not to be seen by the guards who were also crawling through the secret passage, he did not know, but he did managed to get very close to the Portal room. Not close enough though. Since the explosion of the Portal Console, ten guards were posted permanently around. Looking everyone, even under the floor, to find a way in, he didn't find any. He was eventually seen by a guard. The explosive in hand, he had to throw himself down a deck, hoping to fall on the conduit, and not beside it, to escape it. He was now realizing the risk were become too high. He had been lucky the two times, but probability would eventually catch him. He would be dying before completing his objective. Hiding at a place he was at least sure no one would find him, Tho'var reflected on the next course of action. The conclusion was hard to swallow, but it was the only one. There was no way he was gonna succeed in destroying for good the portal deflector, without being caught. But he could not risk letting the portal deflector operational. A console could be rebuild. That left only one solution : a one way trip. He had to move through the guards and cause the explosion knowing quite well that would be the end of his life, and probably the life of most of the guards guarding the portal control room. At the thought, he felt three times heavier. That was so far from the life and death he had hoped. So far from what he had lived for. He had lived based on the principle of peace, and would be dying in a explosion that would kill ten Hikani. That was an end he could not achieve willingly. But that was the only end possible. So with his hearth half broken, and regrets heavy as a sun, he runn through the debris of the Portal Control Room, crawling into the gap of all the pieces of hull and dust that had fallen when the console exploded, with guards shooting and running after him. One shot took him on his left elbow but he continued to crawl. With blood and tears mixing and leaking on his cheeks, a blurred vision, a headache incredibly painful, and the sounds that resonated in his ears, he managed to reach the hole Jennifer had create several hours ago, and get back to the passage he had been working on. In front, there was a Hikani waiting with his gun pointed at him. Tho'var just had enough time to move on the side and run towards him.. The shot hit him on the ribs...but he had enough speed to pounce on him and throw him off the conduit. He then continued to move to reach the layer of the hull. He installed the torpedo explosive there, at the spot he had found earlier where the damage would be the most likely to succeed. Just as he finished to install him, he was shot once more by the guards who were running after him and felt down. He was stopped in his fall by another conduit. He was losing a lot of blood he realized. There was not much time . Using the weapon he had, he fired at the torpedo above him. ~ So this is how we die ~ was his last thoughts. He had tried to keep them quiet but 2 yr. olds were the quietest of beings! Tom went to the bridge after Dahlia got up and went to the kids. He had relieved the duty officer as he wanted to sit in the center seat for a time. He liked the feel of the seat and silently asked the supreme being of the Universe he’d get a shot at his own command one day. As he was reviewing the reports and ship status – two of the Ensigns from the Tesla crew approached him with a request. “Hello Ensigns what may I do for you two?” Toom said. (Reply: Michaels and Spark) Tom listened as they made their requests o join the Rosenante permanently. “Have you spoken to The Tesla’s CO about your wanting to transfer?” He queried. (Reply: Sparks and Michaels) Jackson wanted to see if they were smart enough to follow the chain of command. Each indicated that they had and the Captain was actually pleased that they wanted to join the Rose. It had a great reputation and its officers moved up the chain of command. Tom read over their pads and saw what they said were true. Again, he smiled and replied “I think we can manage this for you two. I don’t see why either the Co or FO would reject them. So, unless they tell you otherwise – welcome aboard”. But it was only since a few minutes that he actually started to feel and think more coherently. He wasn't unable to move, nor see, but he could feel people around him. :: You are gaining consciousness at last :: said a voice in his head. :: Who are you? ;; Tho'var asked. ;; I am shen'hor'hoy, and you are Tho'var I believe. ;; replied the voice. ;; How do you know my name ? ;; Tho'var asked. ;; You were not conscious, but your mind was still working, fighting for your life. What you have done there was remarkable. ;; the voice said. :: What did I do? ;; asked Tho'var. ;; You have been badly injured. We didn't think you would survive, so I am not surprise you don't remember what happened to you. You destroyed a station and the portal it was sustaining. :: the voice said. ;; I do remember the portal, but I don't remember having destroyed it. What happened?;; Tho'var asked. ;; We don't know. We hoped you would tell us. From what we have seen when we found you, you set a bomb that destroyed a huge part of the station. ;; the voice said. ;; What about the.....the..... ;; tried to say and remember Tho'var without success ;; The Hikani? They have left the station. WIthout the portal, they had no more use of it. ;; said the voice. ;; Who are you? ;; Tho'var asked. ;; We are the Wren'na'rhi'haat. Our specie are almost extinct, being chased by the Hikani. We are spread around, trying to survive and avoid them. We bless the GODS to have find you ;; said the voice. ;; Why? ;; asked Tho'var. ;; Our specie learned space travel, but we are still primitive. We had almost no hope to resist the Hikani. But with you, with you knowledge, that might change. ;; said the voice. ;; And why would I help you? ;; asked Tho'var ;; Because we saved you. And because we know you. We have read your thoughts through your coma. We know you are a pacifist. We know what happened to your people. We have lived the same situation. The Hikani have done to us what Doenitz have to your species. You know the Hikani. You know what they are capable of. Your knowledge can help us hide better and make a life for ourselves. You are a blessing, send by the GODS. ;; the voice said. Tho'var opened his eyes. It took him a long time to get used to the light. As a figure was taking form in front of him, he started to recognize an Aenar. ;; That cannot be possible ;; he said. ;; We are sorry for the deception. We are no Aenar. We are shapeshifter. We can take whatever forms we like. Our natural forms however create fears to others. We have experienced that with Humans before. So we prefer to take the appearance of those we meet. ;; the figure said. ;; Humans? You have met Humans? ;; asked Tho'var. ;; Yes, we did. Centuries ago. They saved us from the Eska. Now we need to be saved from the Hikani. ;; the person said. ;; I will. You save my life. That is the least I can do ;; (Reply no one) (Posted by Nick)
